From 1 July 2018, the parental leave entitlement to government-funded parental leave payments for eligible employees will be extended.
The current government-funded parental leave payment is up to 18 weeks. This will increase to 22 weeks for eligible employees whose children are born (or who receive children into their care) on or after 1 July 2018.
From 1 July 2018, employees on parental leave will also be able to perform up to 52 hours of paid work (increasing from 40 hours) without impacting their government-funded parental leave entitlements.
